Seeing stuff

I went diving to find paua (abalone) today. We had to go at low tide and dive for them. You have to take a hard plastic knife to pry them off of the rocks. They look like half a clam and they are stuck to the rocks. You have to use a plastic knife so you don't Hurt them in case they are to small and you have to put them back. For supper we had fresh paua 3 different ways. One way Nelson cooked it was to grind it up and mix it with onions and a few other secret ingredients. The other ways were fried with shrimp and parsley and garlic or just fried in steaks. The way I liked it best was fried with onions and parsley.
We also caught mussels which we had for supper.
We met a guy that just came back  from fishing and he gave us some of his blue cod. His name is Nigel.
Dad also met a guy on the beach who will take us salmon fishing tomorrow.
So far i'm not sick of traveling yet.

fishing

well, we booked a fishing trip the day before we went for half a day. we had to wake up at 7 then walk to the booking place to find the guy to go fishing. once we got breakfast and some snacks we left. at first it was fun because we were caching the bait. at one spot we caught a few then we went to a differnt spot. i thought we were going for big fish after we had cought lots of bait, but we were just fishing for bait the whole time. finaly the captian put out 2 lines with bait and a bottle for a bobber while we caught more bait. then after a little while the line got all tangled up so even if a fish did bite we couldn't get it in. once it was noon we stopped keeping all the little fish and he said we shoud keep all them so we asked why and he said they were for hime to eat once we got back. Finaly we left because our half day was up. all together it was a crappy fishing trip.

Phuket, Thailand

June 24

Yesterday we took a flight to Puket town. It was a 2 hour long flight. When we got there we got a hotel near the ferry dock and dumped our stuff. Later on after supper at McDonalds we went to see a movie. The tickets for the vip we 4 dollars so we decided to splurge. The movie was call knight and day. It was ok but not the best. My favourite part of the movie was the vip seats. The next day we took a cab to the ferry dock and went to Phi Phi island,. The hotel we got is the best on this side of the island. It has an assume view. It overlooks the whole bay. We have been swimming or laying on the beach most of the time we have been hear. I really like it hear because it is low season but still touristy enough to have lots of shops. It reminds me of the Perhentian islands. Tomorrow me and my dad are going fishing on a fan tail boat. It is going to lots of fun. The guyed has lots of pictures of sail fish he has caught other times and said he always caches some fish like barracuda. But most of all I would like to catch a marlin in his small boat, that would be fun!

chaing mai

today we got up early and got in this red truck taxi. it took an hour to get to the elephant park. when we finally got there we saw lots of elephants and water buffalo. there must have been 30 elephant's. one of them had a 6 day old baby. it was so small. it was probably up to my waist. we got to feed it bananas. one of the first things we did there was ride the bigger elephants. it was so much fun, and it reminded me of riding camels in the desert. we rode through the river then along up to the park. all together the ride was 45 minutes long. after we got back we took an ox cart to the show grounds and we watched an elephant show. it was very neat. my favorite thing they did was whet the biggest one played soccer with his trainer.the elephant was very good and he scored once.after the show we did the rice and water buffalo tour. it was a lot of fun. i got to ride a water buffalo. it was a lot of fun. after that we did the rice tour. they showed us how they harvested rice before tractors. i got to do all the steps. then we tried some that we threshed and picked. it was very good. after that i got to shoot an old fashion cross bow that was hand made it was a lot of fun until this stupid German lady (a perfect wife for creepy German man, that we met in Spain!) pretended to try and shoot her friend which in the meantime she almost shot us! after a lot of yelling and giving her crap she put it down. after we went rafting down the river on a bamboo raft. it was a lot of fun. one of the guys in front of us on a different boat almost sunk it because he was so big. at the end we got in our red truck and went to the long necked peoples village. it was amazing how long their  necks were. they said if they didn't wear their rings that were around their necks then they could die because their neck might collapse. there the people all made hand made things and i bought a hand made cross bow. to bad it was so small. but it has to be to fit in our bags.when we got back we visited the kids a bit then we came back to our room and now we are going to bed soon.

Thailand

3 days ago we flew to Thailand. first we took a plane to Bangkok. there we sat in the air port for 6 hours until we could fly to Chiang mai. when we got to the other air port we got our bags and then got a ride from the lady how has a children's home. so she brought us to the hotel we were staying at. the next day we went to see the kids. they were a lot of fun and loved to play. when the kids were at school we helped build a cover out of chicken wire and PVC pipe for the sand box. we also got all new sand and put that in so they could play in it again. when we went to pick them up we bought a lot of new sand toys. when they got home they were so exited to get to play in the sand box. the next day me and my dad went fishing for cat fish. we both caught 2 and the other guy that came caught 1 but it was the biggest. the 2 i caught and the 2 my dad caught were probably 20 pounds. after we got back we played with the kids more. we all had a huge water fight. it was a lot of fun.

Halong bay

June 14, 2010

Yesterday we started our junk boat tour. At first we had to take a 4 hour bus ride to the boats then we got on and started sailing. After an hour of sailing we had lunch on the boat. It was so good. I we had fish that was not very good, some octopus salad that was weird, there was also fish cakes, squid that I liked, some beef and the lady that was next to us had tofu. Once we got to the spot to park the boat we got on this little one and they brought us to a cave that we hiked through for an hour. It was one of the biggest caves in the world. After the caves, we were walking to the bought to go kayaking when we saw something in the water. So we found a stick and brought it close to the dock and found out that it was a horse shoe crab. It was so cool. But sadly it was almost dead. Finally we got to go kayaking. It was so much fun because there are lots of caves that you can go into. Apparently there are almost 2000 islands. When we got back the junk boat we went swimming and we all (accept mom) jumped of the top level. I hurt my hand though because I slapped it on the water. Later that evening we had supper then went to bed. The next morning we got up and traveled a ways to the biggest island and there we booked our hotel room and went to monkey island. There we only saw 1 but he tried to attack one guy in our group. It was funny and I got it all on tape. He asked me to video him feeding it when he decided to attack. Luckily the monkey missed and didn’t bite him. After a quick dip in the water we came back and soon we will be having supper.

my days in Vietnam

June 9,2010

Today we got a tour to the sand dunes and a cool little river called fairy river. The river was the most polluted river I have ever smelt. We walked up it all the way to the falls. On one side of the river was some sand stone that had incredible colours and shapes. On the other side were lots of rice patties. Once we were back at the jeep we went to the dunes. There we went sand sliding. It was a lot of fun but you didn’t go very fast. After we got back we went to different dunes that were crowded with tones of people. so we left. After dinner we all got massages. It was awesome.

Mom thinks I don’t write enough, I know I probably don’t but I am tired and want to sleep. So now I have to write lots. Sadly I don’t now what to write. Mom thinks I should write how I feel about being in Vietnam.

So far I like it at the ocean but the food here is not as good as in Saigon. Half an hour ago me and dad went to have ice cream for dessert. When we got there we ordered 2 banana splits. 15 minutes later the lady comes and said they don’t have enough ice cream for 2. So we stood up to leave then she quickly said they would bring it out right away. 3 minutes later she brings us a little glass of chocolate ice cream and 3 slices of banana deep fried and in cased in some kind of batter. So we said that’s not a banana split. She said it was. Then dad said it was supposed to come with whip cream but they were out of whip cream so they brought us something different. That’s when we walked out and didn’t go back. Now we are going to bed without ice cream.
